Free Polymarket Alternatives (2026): Predict Without Real Money, KYC or a Crypto Wallet
By the Clutch team · Reviewed October 7, 2026 · 8 min read
The short answer
If you want the Polymarket loop (news breaks, you call it, the odds move) without money, a wallet or an ID check, Clutch is the closest free match on your phone: free credits, points you can redeem for gift cards. For rigorous long-range forecasting, Metaculus. For writing your own markets, Manifold. None of them pays cash for being right on a trade, which is exactly why none of them needs your Social Security number.
Polymarket is not one product anymore. In the US it runs as Polymarket US, a CFTC-regulated exchange that asks for your Social Security number before you can deposit. Outside the US, the main site is funded in crypto. And in France and Spain, regulators have blocked it outright. If you just want to predict the news for fun and get rewarded for being right, there are simpler options.

The practical upshot for a US player: to trade on Polymarket US you give your legal name, date of birth, home address and Social Security number, and you may be asked for a photo ID and a selfie (Polymarket US sign-up docs). Kalshi asks for a government photo ID and a residential address. Outside the US, Polymarket’s main site is funded by sending crypto (USDC) to a deposit address. And sports contracts remain a live fight between the exchanges and several states.

The alternatives, one by one
Clutch: the news, as a free daily game
Clutch turns the day’s news into yes/no markets: sports, politics, culture, tech, weather. You stake free credits (1 to 100 per market), the odds move with the crowd, and a correct call pays out in points. Points go into the Shop for digital gift cards or charity donations, delivered by email. There is no deposit, no wallet and no ID check to play.
Markets are generated every day from thousands of news sources, with a dedicated US news feed alongside UK, Canada and worldwide ones. As of our September 2026 report, players had made more than 1.2 million predictions, about 70% of settled predictions had come true, and the community had redeemed more than 6 million points for 435 rewards.
- Best for: calling the news and sports every day on your phone, against friends or in a league.
- Limits: you never win cash directly, only points. Our prize draws (like the Nintendo Switch 2 one) are open only to residents of France, so in the US it is the gift-card Shop. Markets are short (most settle within days or weeks) and written by Clutch, so you cannot post your own questions. Resolution is partly automated and can get things wrong; we publish where it breaks, and community resolution is still limited to an early-access group. Winning payouts include a house margin, spelled out in our rules.
For the full story of how markets are written and settled, failures included, read how we generate and resolve markets.
The payout formula and margin are in the official rules.
Manifold: write your own markets
Manifold runs on play money called mana: every account starts with 1,000 and you can buy more. Anyone can create a market on any question, and whoever creates it resolves it. Manifold also runs prize drawings paid in USDC with a free entry available for each drawing (Manifold’s FAQ asks for Ṁ1,000 invested; its official rules say no balance is required). You must be 18 or older, winners need a crypto wallet to collect, and they may have to show a government ID. Its rules void the drawings in Delaware, Idaho, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Washington and Washington, D.C.
- Best for: asking your own questions, however niche.
- Limits: creator-resolved markets, prizes paid only in crypto, and drawings unavailable in several states.
Metaculus: serious, long-range forecasting
Metaculus is not a market: you submit a probability and get scored on accuracy. No money is at stake, but some tournaments carry cash prizes split among the most accurate forecasters, who must verify their identity to be paid. Questions come from staff and the community, are reviewed by moderators, and only Metaculus admins resolve them.
- Best for: demanding questions on science, technology and geopolitics.
- Limits: no mobile app, and it feels more like a research tool than a game.
Good Judgment Open: where superforecasters train
Born out of the Good Judgment Project, GJ Open is a free forecasting site that scores you against the crowd with Brier scores, question by question. The best forecasters can work toward Superforecaster status. Its FAQ mentions no prizes.
- Best for: learning the method and measuring your accuracy honestly.
- Limits: no app and no material rewards.

How we compared
- On October 7, 2026 we re-read each service’s own pages (FAQ, official rules, help center) and the relevant CFTC orders. Every table row links to its source.
- We checked which services have mobile apps by querying the App Store directly.
- Clutch numbers come from our own published data (September 2026 community report). We do not compare odds with Polymarket.
- Clutch is our product: we rated it on the same criteria as everyone else, cons included. This is not legal or financial advice.
