YES if, on or before 20:00 on August 2, 2026, an official public bulletin or press statement from the Prefecture of Var (préfet Simon Babre) or the Var departmental firefighting authority explicitly states that the wildfire reported by TF1 as restarting on 31 July 2026 is 'maîtrisé', 'fixé' or 'éteint' or an unambiguous English equivalent such as 'contained', 'held' or 'extinguished'. National news agencies that quote those official statements (for example AFP, Franceinfo, Le Monde) are acceptable. If official bodies publish conflicting statuses, the most recent official statement from the Prefecture or the departmental authority named in official bulletins determines the outcome, and statements clearly about a different fire do not count.
